What to learn at SUA Garage Cohort 1
The first cohort of our vocation skills and empowerment program will feature 3 carefully curated programs, each to run for 6 months (70 hours a week) and 6 months of paid internship to be followed by a full-time employment or business startup option. The programs currently receiving applications are;

- Woodworks and Interior Furnishing
- Smart Electronics Systems & Appliances Repair
100% Tuition-Free Program
The Skillup Africa Garage Bootcamp is completely tuition-free, as our target is to give an opportunity to exceptional but indigent young Africans to learn viable tech skills. However, students will need to make provision for some basic amenities and their personal upkeep
Creative Fashion Technology & Garment Production
Blend digital pattern‑making, industrial sewing and sustainable design to create ready‑to‑wear outfits for males and females. Students learn machine mastery, fabric science, CAD pattern drafting, cutting, finishing and quality control, culminating in a marketable mini‑collection and entrepreneurship skills for boutique production or employment opportunities.
Woodworks and Interior Furnishing (Furniture Making)
Explore carpentry fundamentals, CNC machining and upcycling to craft furniture and décor. Learners master measuring, joinery, finishing, tool maintenance, safety and sustainable material selection, producing sellable desks, shelves and fittings while gaining costing, client communication and small‑batch production management skills.
Smart Electronics Systems & Appliances Repair
Delve into electrical theory, diagnostics and component‑level repair of household appliances and smart devices. Students practice soldering, multimeter troubleshooting, PCB swaps, LED lighting design and the creation of electrical gadgets for home and work while learning safety standards, customer service and entrepreneurial skills

Questions & Answers
Yes. The entire training—including classroom instruction,course materials, work machines and other work tools, apprenticeship, and internship—is 100% free. However, students will need to take care of their basic needs like clothing, uniforms, gears and feeding
SUAG is designed to lead directly to employment or entrepreneurship. During your internship, you’ll earn from real client projects for a minimum of 6 months. After graduation, many learners are retained, while others are linked to employers or supported to start their own businesses.
Anyone aged 15–35 with a strong interest in practical work – male and female – can apply. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn, show up consistently, and work hard.
You’ll have daily hands-on workshops, theory classes, project assignments, and mentorship sessions. The schedule is intensive and full-time—Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday project days.

Each track combines theory, hands-on learning, and paid internship.
Yes, we have few hostel accommodation for students coming from far distances. However, students who accept accommodation will be fully responsible for all they need to make thing stay comfortable and convenient.
Graduates will receive a Skillup Africa Garage Vocational Diploma Certificate, recognized for its hands-on, internationally aligned training standards.
The training hub for this pilot phase is in Apata, Ibadan (Oyo State, Nigeria). It’s a multipurpose hub space with workshops, classrooms, dormitories, and a media lab.
Applicants go through a simple but competitive process that includes an online form, a short aptitude test, and a virtual or physical interview. We look for passion, commitment, and potential—not past experience.
